An environmental soundscape piece centering on banjo, fiddle, and percussion textures composed within a collage of field recordings that I made while traveling with my family around the southwestern region of Iceland this past May. My son Drew used the Samplr app on iPad to manipulate some of the recordings that we made using a hydrophone. Drew and Mila recorded some "call and response" percussion with floor tom and ride cymbal, and I recorded additional parts with gourd banjo, banjo, fiddle, toy piano, floor tom and bowed cymbal, along with Casio CZ-101, Granulator (Max For Live) granular synth, and Arturia MicroBrute. The areas from which we gathered field recordings in Iceland were Reykjavik, Thingvellir, Geysir, Gullfoss, Borganes, Reykholt, and Hvalfjordur.
