"Binaural Forest" emerged from a collage of field recordings made during a May 2012 residency at Wildacres Retreat in Little Switzerland, North Carolina. On top of these recordings I developed an ambient soundscape performance, using both live and pre-sampled banjo on top of drone-based synthesizer parts. Several of the banjo samples are from my "Cloudsplitter" EP, on top of which I explored a range of timbres including bowing the banjo, playing behind the bridge, and playing the drum head in a number of ways.

The piece was premiered on November 18, 2012 on a concert of ambient and electronic music at 2640 Space in Baltimore, alongside performances by Jason.Sloan, Liz Meredith, and Carver Audain. This is a live recording.
